Electric  Natural Gas  Water and Sewer  Telecommunications

Electric

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is the distribution agent for electricity in Hopkinsville – Christian County and several counties in southwest Kentucky. There is an abundant and reliable supply of electricity transmitted through our community by Hopkinsville Electric System and by Pennyrile Electric.(PRECC).

Our industrial areas are served by PRECC. Their service area encompasses 9 counties in the Pennyrile Region to include: Christian County, Todd County, Trigg County, Muhlebnerg County, Butler County, Logan County, Simpson County, Caldwell County and Lyon County.

The substations located in both industrial parks are rated for 45 MVA and each is “loaded” or uses 20 MVA;   therefore, there is plenty of capacity available at each substation.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas in Hopkinsville-Christian County is distributed by  AtmosEnergy which received their gas through Texas Gas Pipeline. The Hopkinsville Industrial Park and Commerce Park are both well served by Atmos Energy with a series of 4”, 6” and 8" high pressure trunk lines.

Water and Sewer

The Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority (HWEA) provides the public water supply from the Little River and from several area lakes and quarries. The water treatment facility is a 10,000,000 water treatment plant, opened in 1998. The water treatment plant has a treatment capapcity of 10,000,000 gallons per day. The waterlines are at least 12” which provide both of our industrial parks with ideal capacity.

Hopkinsville’s modern tertiary wastewater system has a treatment design capacity of 9,000,000 gallons per day in two wastewater  treatment plants. Eight-inch sewer lines are in both of the industrial parks.
